Paris Forum: The 2nd Arab French Banking Dialogue - Beirut, Lebanon - October 19, 2012

The 2nd French Arab Banking dialogue was held in Paris under the high patronage of French President HE. Mr. François Hollande. This Event was organized by the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) in cooperation with the World Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB), la “Federation Bancaire Francaise” and the “Chambre de Commerce Franco-Arab”. The Forum gathered representatives of the public and private sectors as well as leading bankers and financiers. 

In his opening speech Dr. Joseph Torbey indicated that the tsunami that hit the Arab World has caused significant changes at all levels. Dr. Torbey considered that an “Arab Marshall plan” is urgently needed to assist in the reconstruction of economies and societies devastated by conflict, and to contribute to improving the quality of life of populations. He highlighted the urgency of fighting youth unemployment, a prerequisite for escaping poverty and ensuring stability.
