The Annual Arab Banking Conference for 2013: “Sustainable Economic & Social Development Requirements” - Manama, Bahrain - April 3, 2013

Under the Auspices of HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman AL Khalifa Prime Minister of Kingdom of Bahrain, the Union of Arab Banks in cooperation with the Central Bank of Bahrain organized The Annual Arab Banking Conference for 2013 entitled: Sustainable Economic & Social Development Requirements, with the participation of a number of Arab ministers, governors of central banks, financial leaders as well as representatives of Arab and international institutions.

In his  speech, Dr. Joseph Torbey said that now is an ideal time to tackle the issue of “Sustainable Economic and Social development Requirements” at a time when the Arab Spring is shaking large cities of the Arab world; and where the economy, deeply rooted in the socio-political life of people, is in the eye of the storm.  Arab countries fundamental responsibilities remain the achievement of economic stability which is the backbone of any political stability, he added.
