Opening Of The Arab Banking House - Beirut, Lebanon - April 2, 2007

The Arab Banking House, the new Headquarters of the Union of Arab Banks(UAB/ www.uabonline.org) and the World Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB/ www.wuab.org), was inaugurated on April 2, 2007 in Central Beirut, under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Riyad Salemeh, Governor of Central Bank of Lebanon, in the presence of Dr. Joseph Torbey and numerous Arab Central Bank Governors, Chairmen of Arab banks, and renowned Arab and Lebanese finance, banking and media professionals, as well as Ministers, Deputies and other dignitaries. The inauguration also saw the participation of Dr. François Bassil, Chairman of the Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL), and H.E. Mr. Adnan Kassar, Former Minister and actual President of Lebanese Economic Bodies. Representatives of the Arab and Lebanese Banks which contributed to the construction of the Arab Banking House were also present. In his address, Dr. Torbey assured that this new Headquarters proves that Lebanon is capable of overcoming the difficulties it endured this summer and is meant to remain a hub of international and regional financial institutions. A Gala diner at the Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel followed the inauguration, and trophies of appreciation were presented to all who contributed to the success of the Arab Banking House Project.
